COMPETITORS of the "Uplifting Minds II" Entertainment Conference have come from all over the world, London, UK and in America: Chicago, Mass., Virginia, Maryland, New York (Buffalo, NY), South Carolina, Atlanta, PA, Florida (Miami, Kissimmee), North Carolina, Philadelphia, Seattle Washington, Washington DC, Texas (Forth Worth, Houston), California (Los Angeles, Beverly Hills, Burbank, Inglewood, Union City, Ontario, Long Beach, Stanton and San Rafael), Ohio, New Jersey, North Carolina, Nevada, Arizona and the UK to compete in the showcase.

GUIDELINES AND REQUIREMENTS to showcase in the competition, in music, song writing and dance, are simple. Aside from the Uplifting Minds II Award/Trophy, winners receive PRIZES that vary from receiving a free music video; music business book; free tracks and studio recording time; free air-play on Internet radio station Hit Center; free vocal and life coaching sessions; free session with an entertainment attorney, free studio recording time; and more.

Competing in "Uplifting Minds II" gives you a chance to showcase your talents before an audience of peers and entertainment industry professionals, to measure your skills with those of your fellow artist. It's not about whether you win, it's about taking advantage of the opportunties presented and developing your talents as well.

The DEADLINE to enter "UPLIFTING MINDS II" is normally a month before each event date (but note slots in the competition showcase is limited and based on "first come first serve" bases). The deadline for sponsors is as soon as possible, to take advantage of all sponsorship opportunities. SPONSORS RECEIVE not only exposure with sponsorship mention in the print, radio, visual and wire mediums used to promote the event; exhibit table(where applicable); advertising space in the event program; a link to your site from the events web site; a chance to network with the panelists, judges and winners, and banner space at the showcase. Some SPONSORS also receive seminar seat(s) at the conference.

COMPETITORS of the "Uplifting Minds II," as a result of competing in the event, have gone on to write/produce a platinum selling single, "I Should Be," for Dru Hill (Def Jam Records); performed in a musical on Broadway; opened up for 3LW, LL Cool J, Angie Stone, India.Arie and Faith Evans; signed with Def Jam Records; performed and won at Showtime at the Apollo; became finalists in the American Idol search; performed at the African-American Heritage Festival and appeared on CBS's WJZ - TV and MPT in Maryland.

"UPLIFTING MINDS II" is a two day entertainment conference like no other, consisting of a day of ENTERTAINMENT SEMINARS hosted by some of the current entertainment industry executives and artist in the business today, followed by a day for a FREE NATIONAL TALENT COMPETITION.

Started in 1999 as a Baltimore community event which has grown under the guidance of coordinator Eunice Moseley, Promotions Director of The Baltimore Times, syndicated entertainment columnist (The Pulse of Entertainment) and president of a promotions and public relations consultant company, Freelance Associates.

The "UPLIFTING MINDS II" event is held twice annually in Baltimore (April 19-20 & August 16-17) and three times in Los Angeles (Feb. 23-24, June 28-29 & October 11-12). Competition is for ages ranging 7 - 25ish. The COMPETITION SHOWCASE is free and open to the public. The SEMINAR fees are reasonably low, especially for competitors and students.

The "UPLIFTING MINDS II" SEMINAR TOPICS vary per city/per date and range from "entertainment law tips," "the psychology of entertainment," "the right attitude," "internet radio, the new era," "artist development techniques," "marketing strategies," "studio remixing techniques," "song-writing techniques," "casting and booking," "acting/voice-over careers," "stage presence," "media relations," "finding endorsement/production deals," "forming an indie label," to "promotions and public relation strategies."

In the past performances by major acts surprised the audience, from artist such as SISQO, and JAZZ of R&B group Dru Hill (formerly Def Jam Records); rapper/actress MC LYTE (SGI/CMM/BMG); R&B group RUFF ENDZ (Epic Records); gospel group RAMIYAH (Music World/Columbia Records; singer/song writer TEEDRA MOSES (TVT Records); singer/song writer LINA (Hidden Beach Recordings); gospel singer/song writer VANESSA R. WILLIAMS (Baraja Records); ten-year old rapper KAYLA (Sucka Free/Columbia Records), gospel singer/song writer REGINA MURFF (Real Deal Records), and actor/rapper Allen Maldonado aka POC DAWONE (Judging Amy, Las Vegas) of Da Truth Records.
